Discover Munich with Stadt(er)leben - the digital city tour! From shopping to art and culture, for pleasure seekers or anyone who wants to experience Munich in a new way - the web app now offers even more varied experiences for every taste.

The previous tours were very popular, so we are now offering two new, additional routes.

Regardless of whether you are taking part for the first time or whether you already know the principle: Stadt(er)leben lets you see the city with new eyes - online and offline. Immerse yourself in Munich's history and stories and discover interesting businesses from the worlds of commerce, trade and gastronomy.

The new “Stadtbekannt” and “Stadtkindl” routes

Be inspired in advance and take a digital look behind the scenes of the participating stores and restaurants

The “Stadtbekannt” route takes you through the old town via the Residenz and Kaiserburg.

It's all about sound and style here: masterpieces made of wood, fine care products, elegant tableware. Plus stylish clothing for convertibles, the Oktoberfest and skiing, sweet and savory delicacies.

An inspiring route for all those who enjoy good sounds and more.

The new “Stadtkindl” route invites families with children to take a varied walk through Munich's Angerviertel and Kreuzviertel districts.

Embark on a journey of discovery: from lovingly guided children's stores and captivating stories to adventure locations that invite you to explore, marvel and join in. In between, take a break with games, fun and delicious treats.

The "Stadtschätze" route offers you an insight into hidden facts, from the sounds of the carillon on Marienplatz to the lions at the Feldherrnhalle.

Discover Munich at its finest: traditional houses, jewellers and manufactories, modern art, Bavarian delicacies, a famous coffee house and a legendary bar. Even for locals, there are always surprising stories about Munich.

On the "City Flair" route, you can explore the lively side of Munich, from the hustle and bustle of the Viktualienmarkt to the Hackenviertel. Discover interior design shops with everything from carpets to technology, candles to decanters, as well as old craftsmanship in young hands, art supplies and fashion. Start with sweet delicacies and end the tour with a savoury treat. In between, you can expect exciting stories about Munich that only a few people know.

"Stadt(er)leben" shows you a varied mix of shopping, gastronomy, sights and culture.

You can explore the tour digitally in advance and plan your own individual tour.

The walking time per route is between 40 minutes and one hour. The routes are between 2.2 and 3.2 kilometers long.

There is always a suggested starting point and route, which is also shown on a map.

The background

The Bavarian Special Fund "Revitalizing Inner Cities" offered the opportunity to test new projects in order to promote inner city businesses. The City of Munich commissioned the Department of Labor and Economic Development to develop and implement a digital city tour, which we are now presenting.

The digital city tour "Stadt(er)leben München" is intended to offer new perspectives and, above all, to bring retailers and restaurants together with their customers. The participating shops and restaurants are presented along two routes with exciting texts and high-quality photo and video material. Cultural and tourist highlights along the routes are presented with images and text as well.

Businesses are enabled to present themselves, highlight their strengths and key offerings, and position themselves for future customers.
