Munich at SXSW 2024

South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, is the biggest technology and creative festival in the world. From 8-16 March 2024, a delegation from Munich will attend.

South by Southwest (SXSW) is many things in one: technology and innovation conference, exhibition, comedy, music and film festival. SXSW brings together tech pioneers and innovators, start-ups and companies, creatives and artists from around the world. Over 75,000 participants are expected at the SXSW Conference alone. The conference program features over 1,000 key notes, panel discussions, workshops and meetups on 24 topic areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Climate Change, Health & MedTech, Games or Music & Tech.

Munich at SXSW 2024

The Munich Delegation brings together startups, established companies, creatives and a team from the City of Munich led by the Head of the Department of Labor and Economic Development, Clemens Baumgärtner.

The official SXSW program will feature a panel with FC Bayern Munich on Investing in the Internationalization of Sports as well as a session with Siemens AG on Sustaining Coral Reefs With Digital Twins. Julia Weigl from Filmfest München will offer a mentor session on programming. Munich-based Jazz singer Enji will perform at the SXSW Music Festival.

Munich startups at SXSW

In November last year, startups from Munich had the opportunity to apply for 10 startup packages for SXSW 2024, sponsored by Munich Startup and munich business. The following ten startups have been selected and will be part of the Munich delegation:

Ägile Ässets

Ägile Ässets is the agile social media management SaaS for global brand builders. 

A truly pro-level social media management SaaS tool for anyone, especially agencies, it includes multi-brand/-channel/-language functionalities, AI-supported post creation as well as (upcoming) GenAI Trendwatch.

Angsa is developing an autonomous robot that detects even small trash items using artificial intelligence. The autonomous robot can be used for offroad terrain such as parks or festival grounds.
