A mega trade fair year for Messe München

According to projections, 2025 will be the most successful year in terms of revenue and earnings in the history of Messe München.

Growth continued

The year 2025 brought historic record results for the trade fair business in Munich and the surrounding region. This was partly due to the fact that eight of the twelve world-leading trade fairs in Munich's trade fair portfolio took place in 2025.

IAA MOBILITY and bauma were the events with the highest visitor numbers in Germany.

The numerous other events organized by Messe München itself and hosted by other companies also performed better than the economic situation would have suggested. Projections for the year as a whole now indicate the best result in the company's history.

Impressive record revenues

According to calculations, Messe München will close 2025 with record revenues of around €600 million at the group level. Earnings are expected to be around €100 million, while EBITDA is estimated at around €165 million. Particularly noteworthy: at €520 million, the Munich location has an above-average share of this and is thus contributing significantly to the record results.

Growth once again: Anniversary event for productronica 2025

Successful trade fairs in 2025

A total of 18 in-house events and 73 guest events attracted around 21,000 exhibitors and 2.5 million visitors to the city. In the first half of 2025, BAU, INHORGENTA, and LOPEC were the main attractions. These were followed in the fall by IAA MOBILITY and the anniversary event of productronica. The latter celebrated its 50th anniversary with an increase in visitors of over 10 percent and exhibitor growth of around 20 percent—a result that stands out positively from the general economic trend.

International expansion and economic influence

Messe München can also look back on strategic successes abroad, including its entry into the US market and the growth of its trade fairs in China. The purchasing power effects for 2025 total over €5 billion, with around 80 percent attributable to Munich and Bavaria. These figures illustrate Messe München's tangible contribution to economic development and its role as a platform for innovation and international trade.

Outlook: Trade fairs in Munich in 2026

2026 will be another regular trade fair year in Munich, with nine in-house events at the Riem location. The year will kick off in February with the f.re.e, INHORGENTA, and LOPEC trade fairs, followed by other established trade fairs and leading exhibitions such as analytica, IFAT, and electronica.

In addition, a larger contribution to sales is expected from abroad, particularly from China and India. In January, the market entry in Saudi Arabia is scheduled with IFAT Saudi Arabia, which will be implemented in cooperation with an experienced partner.
