Festival of the Future

The festival, organized by 1E9 and the Deutsches Museum, will present updates on AI, robotics, medicine, quantum technology, music, XR art, and more in early July.

Join the future!

The fourth Festival of the Future aims to be a platform in a rapidly changing, chaotic world for people who don’t want to wait for someone else to decide their future for them. Diverse in their perspectives—but united by the desire to make things better. With this in mind, visitors can once again broaden their horizons here from July 2 to 5.

To this end, the festival will once again present and discuss technology, science, and creativity. This time, the motto is “Join the future!” The organizers aim to encourage the exchange of ideas, learning from one another, and forging new alliances.

The organizers of this thematically diverse yet in-depth overview of developments in technology, science, and art are the former creators of wired.de—who have been active since 2019 with the 1E9 Think Tank platform and the 1E9 Community thematic platform—as well as the Deutsches Museum.

What the Conference and Festival Have to Offer

The festival consists of a two-day conference (for a fee), followed by “Family Days” on Saturday and Sunday with free admission.

The program once again features the latest developments in the various fields, along with leading experts from academia, research, and industry. Speakers include AI researchers Björn Ommer (LMU) and Joscha Bach (CIMC, Liquid AI), Sonja Hall-Supra (Fraunhofer Alliance for Big Data and Artificial Intelligence), AI entrepreneur Nathan Gruber (Manex AI), quantum entrepreneur Alexander Glätzle (plancq), Daria Saharova (World Fund), physician Dr. Jacqueline Lammert (TUM), and biologist Christina Port (2NA FISH), as well as many other representatives from academia and innovative companies.

The arts are also strongly represented once again as a bridge to culture and society—for example, with the session “The Future of Music—How AI Is Changing Composition, Production, and Music Consumption.”

Finally, media representatives Ijoma Mangold, journalist Wolf Lotter, Jannis Brühl (Süddeutsche), and Lars Weisbrodt (Die Zeit) will once again be on hand to contextualize and summarize complex topics.

MUNICH Beyond – Curated XR Exhibition and More

For the first time as a standalone platform, MUNICH Beyond is integrating XR and immersive media into an exciting joint program organized by the Festival of the Future and FILMFEST MÜNCHEN. MUNICH Beyond is supported by the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern in collaboration with XR HUB Bavaria and the Residenztheater München. Visitors can look forward to a curated XR exhibition spanning an impressive 500 m² that presents both international works and Bavarian projects. The exhibition is complemented by talks, workshops, and masterclasses on XR and immersive storytelling. In addition, visitors can experience “Dome Stories,” which bring cinematic storytelling out of the traditional screen and into the room. MUNICH Beyond aims to bring together artists, creatives, cultural institutions, and industry professionals to showcase, discuss, and collectively explore new forms of storytelling.
