Shaping the future together

With the "Innovation Agenda 2030", Munich Innovation Ecosystem GmbH, the City of Munich, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria, the Start2 Group and many other partners from business, science and the public sector are giving new impetus to the city as the innovation engine of tomorrow - sustainable, digital and people-oriented.

The aim is to establish Munich as an international innovation hub and to anchor the culture of innovation in society in the long term. At the same time, structural challenges are to be tackled with creative and technological solutions.

"With the Innovation Agenda 2030, we are creating a basis to effectively combine and sustainably shape technological progress, social participation and ecological responsibility."

Frizzi Engler-Hamm - CEO of Munich Innovation Ecosystem GmbH

Five fields of action

The Innovation Agenda 2030 combines five strategic areas of action

  1. Scaleup City 2030 - Munich's Future Business
In the Scale-up City 2030 field of action, Munich is being strengthened specifically for scale-ups, i.e. companies that are growing rapidly and are on the verge of becoming international players. The field of action addresses specific location factors such as production space, political visibility and network connections. A first building block: the Scale-up Council and Innovativer Mittelstand (innovative SME) initiatives.

  2. Munich as a central AI hub in Europe
At the heart of this field of action is the House of AI, which creates a central platform for science, business and the public sector to work together on innovative AI solutions and strengthen Munich as a center for artificial intelligence. It offers a physical and virtual campus for research, development and co-creation.
“The physical proximity between science, business and start-ups creates ideal conditions for efficient collaboration in AI development - this way practical solutions can be realized faster and used effectively in business and society,” says Frizzi Engler-Hamm.

  3. CleanTech Hub 2030: Strengthening CleanTech for a regenerative future
The Zero Waste Innovation Hub - as an initiative of the CleanTech Hub 2030 field of action - supports Munich's companies in the development of sustainable, circular solutions. Customized consulting services, workshops and the involvement of circular start-ups provide companies with practical solutions.

  4. Fostering oppenness to innovation in our society
Munich relies on a vibrant culture of innovation that involves everyone - citizens, start-ups, companies, science and administration. Open spaces and platforms for exchange, experimentation and collaboration create practical solutions to global and local challenges - with the aim of sustainably improving the quality of life in the city.

  5. Positioning Munich as leading European Innovation Hub
Targeted marketing measures and appearances position Munich as a leading location for innovation and start-ups in Europe and strengthen Munich's international visibility.

"With the Innovation Agenda 2030, we are positioning ourselves well for the future and sending out a strong signal internationally. Innovation and progress can only be achieved through sharing and cooperation between (...) citizens, companies and the city administration."

Dr. Christian Scharpf - Head of Labor & Economic Affairs, CoM
