International talent: reducing recruitment costs

The amiga Career Center offers free HR solutions for sourcing, employer branding, and retention

How amiga supports you

In Germany’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), nearly one in two job openings now remains unfilled—and according to current figures from the Competence Center for Securing Skilled Workers (KOFA), the situation is particularly critical in the fields of manufacturing, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and the defense industry. International professionals bring the urgently needed innovative drive and valuable new ideas to companies in the Munich metropolitan region precisely in these areas.

To successfully and easily tap into this vast potential, the municipal project amiga – Career Center for Internationals supports employers with free services for tailored active sourcing, sustainable talent retention, and effective corporate volunteering. Instead of investing budget in untargeted job postings, companies can access a pool of attractive international talent directly and free of charge through the amiga Career Center.

1. Active Sourcing on equal footing: The “Business Talks”

amiga’s Business Talks offer a straightforward, personal platform for targeted active sourcing and employer branding outside of traditional job portals.

  • Added value: Companies present themselves to selected talent in an exclusive setting. Direct dialogue on equal footing fosters authentic insights and connections that immediately reveal potential.
  • Who will benefit? Companies of all sizes that are open to international work cultures.
  • Proven success: Renowned companies and scale-ups such as Gore, Robert Half, Reverion, Moët Hennessy, Campana & Schott, Elried, and univers are already using this format.

2. Preventing change of mind: The “Spouse Program” as a Retention tool

If a hard-to-find specialist leaves after just a few months because their partner feels professionally isolated, the investment is lost. This is where amiga’s Spouse Program comes in. It offers career-focused support for accompanying partners through targeted coaching and guidance on the job market.

The successful partnership with Deutsche Aircraft, for example, demonstrates that this is a crucial lever for inspiring and retaining international professionals in the long term. Here’s how the company assesses the benefits of the amiga Spouse Program:

Sonja Feigl-Mika (Deutsche Aircraft) with amiga-Mitarbeiterin Susanne Leupold

“Good employees will leave if their families don’t join them. That’s why we do our best to support the families of our international employees. Amiga’s Spouse Program is the perfect complement for us and has been very well received by the spouses.”

3. Corporate Volunteering—Example: Allianz Partners

Through amiga’s corporate volunteering program, professionals and executives can support international talent through job mentoring.

A current best practice for this win-win model is the new amiga partnership with Allianz Partners: In a joint initiative, experienced employees of the world’s leading insurance and financial services provider support international job seekers as they enter the regional job market. This not only strengthens the intercultural leadership skills and motivation of the company’s own team but also positions the company directly at the source of potential candidates.

Would your company or your employees like to volunteer? Contact us! We’d be happy to share our experience to help ensure a successful partnership.
