Zero Waste Innovation Hub latest updates

For the past year, ZWIH has been highlighting the potential of the circular economy. Here you’ll find the next event, valuable insights and an overview of activities

First Project Phase – interim report

As part of our Zero Waste Innovation Hub project, we offer Munich-based businesses and companies the opportunity to identify business opportunities within the circular economy. Since its launch in June 2025, the project has now reached over 120 companies and startups. In-person and online events and workshops have explored the requirements and potential in sectors such as packaging, electronics, food service, textiles, and construction.

In addition, eight innovation projects across a wide range of topics have been launched with companies in Munich, specifically with the following firms:

  • Tretter-Schuhe Josef Tretter GmbH
  • reo GmbH
  • econ industries GmbH
  • LOWA Sportschuhe GmbH
  • Stabl Energy GmbH
  • Münchner Wohnen GmbH
  • Porticon West Gewerbeimmobilien GmbH (a co-creation workshop will take place here on June 28)
  • Foodturo GbR

The Zero Waste Innovation Hub also provides regular updates on regulatory changes, such as new EU regulations. Future focus will continue to be on product take-back systems and material innovations, which already generated significant interest last year. 

ZWIH Project Overview (in German)

The Zero Waste Innovation Hub supports the economic transition toward becoming a Zero Waste City. As a valuable addition to existing initiatives, the project is aimed at both Munich-based startups and established businesses and companies.
